The most beautiful German books 2023

In 2024, the section devoted to the arts at the library of the HfK Bremen will again present “the most beautiful German books” as awarded by the Stiftung Buchkunst.
In the competition of the same name, two expert juries select five works annually in a multi-stage process from the categories “General Literature”, “Scientific Books”, “Technical Books, School and Textbooks”, “Advice Guides, Non-Fiction”, “Art Books, Photo Books, Exhibition Catalogs” and “Children’s Books, Young Adult Books”. According to the juries, they are “exemplary in design, conception and workmanship and show a wide range of design and manufacturing potentials”. The winning titles are also nominated for the “Preis der Stiftung Buchkunst” endowed with 10,000 euros.
Among other things, a book from our university received an award in 2023 and can therefore also be found in the exhibition: the “Japan Guide” by Katrin von Maltzahn, HfK Professor of Drawing/Painting.
